i’m new to here but i hope you can help me. i have found an id tag which i believe to be my grandfather’s from WW1. if i put photos of it up here, can someone help me get some information about him?

The first thing to observe is that
243021 was his number.
RFA was Royal Field Artillery, and
P was his Presbyterian faith.
His entry in the roll of the British War and Victory Medals (which you can find at Ancestry, along with an associated index card) gives his rank as Gunner and name as John Campbell but otherwise adds no detail. That he qualified for this pair of medals confirms he entered a theatre of war on some date after 31 December 1915.
243021 indicates enlistment (likely to be conscripted) on 4 October 1917 and training with 3A Reserve Brigade RFA at Edinburgh.
I can’t see any service or pension records, nor any entry in a casualty list. That is going to make identification of his unit and where he served rather difficult.
Do you know what his address might have been at that time?
i think he would have been living in Dunbar, East Lothian. He moved from there to Edinburgh but i think that was after the war.
